| Lyme Hall in Lyme Park,Cheshire
This park was the home of the Legh family for 600 years, since 1346 when it was granted to the famly by the then king to Sir
Piers Legh, rescuer of the Black Prince’s standerd at Caen. His son, also Sir Piers, fought for the king in France and was at
Agincourt with Henry V. He died in 1422 following the battle of Meax. It was his sons wish that he was buried at Lyme Park; his
ghost funeral procession is occasionally seen.
More commonly a single figure is seen, locally known as Blanche, she is believed to be a mourner, dressed in white with her
head bowed. Legend has it that she is the unknown mistress of Sir Piers.
